SuperBoo VII ... you're invited!

The LHS Varsity Fly Fishing Club and the web community Flyfishinginmaine.com would like to extend to all interested in cane rods our invitation to the mid-winter conclave, SuperBoo.

This year, the facility is available on February 6th, Saturday, the day before the SuperBowl.

Doors will open at 8 am.

Anyone and everyone who is interested in casting cane rods or just casting tales is welcome.

Admission is, as always, free. You do not have to bring bamboo...

What do you value? Content, accuracy and real news or your own edited version of what you think this site's original intention should be? Clark's orginal concept has been TOTALLY lost. Who of you even recall who Clark is? What was this forum about? Why did he create it? Don't know? Then start asking. This USED to be a HUGE informational CENTER for all things bamboo...no longer!

Judging from the posts in the last few months I think we have lost our direction in all of the forum topics. I'm not sure what will get us back on track but I find myself checking this forum less and less as each week goes by. Many of the old members that used to post REALLY valuable comments here no long visit this site. I am dismayed and saddened.

Truly saddened.

The great dialog on many topics is gone. The depth of knowledge-based topics has diminshed greatly....

There is a scam being perpetrated via email and it has already hit 3 rod makers on this Forum that we are aware of. The email sender is looking to purchase high dollar amounts/high volumes of bamboo rods and other fly fishing tackle via credit card; apparently stolen credit card numbers. hydro fracturing in New York (and PA)

Hydro fracturing in the Marcellus Shale of NY and PA might soon be happening.

From what I have read Hydro fracturing for natural gas appears to be a long term environmentally disastrous process that is not worth the short term benefits. In case any other board members are concerned about this in New York (or in PA) I have pasted a draft letter from our local TU group asking the NY Governor to allow more time for consultation.

Symposium at The National Sporting Library

To those interested, The National Sporting Library in Middleburg, VA is hosting a fly fishing symposium on November 21. I had occassion to visit this "gem" of a museum last Friday, and everytime I do, I am just overwhelmed by their resources. The rare book room alone is worth a visit! Death of Betty Malara

We are saddened to tell you of the recent death of Betty Malara. Many of you probably have Phillipson rods which were wrapped by Betty when she worked at Phillipson until its closing in 1974. Didn't know where to post this but my friend and I were fishing a DH (delayed harvest) river this weekend and noticed a spin fisherman with a creel that looked a bit heavy. My buddy said ther's fish in there so he called the 800 number to notify an officer and appox 30-45 minutes later the arrest as made. If it were you would you have said something to the guy first and tell him it is illegal or just call for an officer?
Also, have any of you fished the Cullasaja River in...

Bamboo Revival Isle at the Denver Fly Fishing show

A heads up to all of you makers,

Chuck Furimsky has decided to continue the Bamboo isle and is making tables available to individuals for $300.00 for the event.

It will be the first week in January (8th 9th and 10th, 2010). He is giving us a heck of a deal and so if we could fill a couple of isle's we will make it very clear to the Graphite boys we are here to stay and they better watch out as we are nipping at their heels by producing some of the finest fishing...
