			<description><![CDATA[ I had been meaning to do some brookie fishing for a while and was getting frustrated that I wasn&#39;t finding the time to make the long drive down to the
Shenandoah National Park.  Some of the lovely small stream photos on the board were making things worse.  This past Sunday found me awake at 4:30am to gas up
the car and make the 2.5hr drive down to the park.  The weather forecasts were for clear skies and high temps so I wanted to get there early enough to beat the

			<description><![CDATA[ I revisited some of Teddy Gordon&#39;s Catskill haunts the other day.

The water, although a bit low, remained in the mid-60s and lens clear... maybe even clearer than it was 100 years ago when &#39;acid factories&#39; lined
Catskill rivers, boiling hemlock bark to tan leather for boots and saddles and pumping waste sludge straight into the streams.

			<description><![CDATA[ Spent a couple of days fishing my way down to pick up my son at scout camp in SW Virginia.  First day was a bust as the stream I went to was extremely low and
the only fish I saw were various species of dace and shiners, some of which managed to get there tiny mouths around a fly hook.

The next day was very different.  Hit up Nicotine-Free Creek (sorry, Joe) and there was plenty of water.  In fact it was perhaps the most beautiful series of

			<description><![CDATA[ Yesterday, I reached for the maps, the Montague Fishkill, the 1594 Medalist, the Glock 20, then threw the 4x4 into low and when the trek by truck became
pointless, sauntered down around a wildflower-clogged mountainside and into a small, obscure stream ... which was brimming with equally-small eastern jewels
and the occasional German brown.

I was fishing on the upper section western Wisconsin&#39;s Kinnickinnick River last week, before the rains flooded it. It&#39;s the narrower section of the
stream, where on weekends I can avoid the flotilla of canoeists that clog the larger section of the river, below the city of River Falls.
