Collecting and Tying Classic Flies

A place to discuss the collecting and tying of classic flies, the tyers who made them famous and the waters they were designed for. While classic is generally used for old things classic is also taken in the sense of first class or in the highest form therefore a fully dressed Salmon Fly, a Carrie Stevens Streamer are just as much classics as a Chernobyl Ant would be. Enjoy the forum.

juvenile act of throwing little pliers, any specific recommendations would be most appreciated.

Was wondering what others favorite dry fly attractor patterns might be?

I like the Royal Wulff, sizes 12 to 18, for my smaller mountain streams, as do the trout most days. A 16 or 18 Stimulator works well for a caddis imitation,
as well as the Elk Hair Caddis. I also like the Brown Bivisible, with a fine, sparse palmered silhouette in lieu of a bushy one.

In the fall, the Gray Wulff seems to fill the bill most days. Never forget the Adams!
