I´m not making reels, but I have the deepest respect for those who does. Here´s a guy from Sweden who´s making them and he documented the process of making 5
classic styled reels in his shop. These are the only ones in that style he´s ever made as he mostly makes them modern large arbor styled reels.

As for these five, I´d personally like a flat S-handle and a polished frame. Cool stuff anyway.

Over the last year I have been getting more and more obsessed with Spey casting and steelhead fishing. I spent a week in BC back in September and that cemented
my desire to build a bamboo spey rod. As I have been working on the rod I decided I needed a reel to go with it. I wanted a very simple, non adjustable click
when fitting a grip to a rod, do you have the rings installed so tightly that you need to force them into position or do you want a looser fit?

i guess i can see advantages and disadvantages to both... on one hand the tighter fit has less chance of ever loosening but there's more of a squeegee

than a couple of dozen times. Is this common in the Featherweight, and is it something easily fixed? It almost seems that the spindle is to thin for the spool.
Is there an adjustment I can make, or do I need to send it in for repair? Who do you recommend for repairs without having to send it back to England? Thanks,

I just thought some folks might be interested in the finish beveler that I have developed. This machine is based on the ideas that EC Powell used in his saw.

This saw will bevel tips down to .044 in 2 passes.
