"Inactive Males" = several thousand non-voters minus 129

That sounds about right, too.

End of Poll

When the poll ended, final numbers were:
Male members voting--129, female 8.

That's slightly less than 6% female forum members who participated in the poll--probably a fair representation of active females on board.

As a lifelong Florida voter I pretty much knew I was already screwed on this one and my whining on this subject is culturally hardwired. I'm afraid the voting machines for this poll are rejects from the last Ohio primaries, and the attorney general sold them cheap. Yuku picked them up, had a kid wire them into each forum group & Yuku (with solid backing from AIG) guarantees the results to be whatever the results come out to be. We do not discriminate against Florida voters, though for the life of me I don't understand the decision to allow their votes. Full...

Is it too late to change my vote? I'm not sure I hit the right button the first time, can you dig my ballot out of the file to check for me? Are Florida voters even counted in your poll? You'se guys have made my evening. I made it through yet another day without nicotine. Of course, I was helped by receiving a neat 3" Gamage marked reel today. I've washed it, oiled it and tomorrow I'll post a few pictures and have Bulldog verify that it's a specimen from the days of yore when aluminium alloy was not what it is today! Pretty exciting, eh?

Consider the approach I've developed based on the theory of "Virtual Reality". Get on line and visit a website a significant distance east of your location. Once absorbed in that site you are effectively operating in a new time zone and the bar there, where you "are", is open. Heck, right now I'm having a shot of rum tomorrow in Japan.

Cloozoe, That's a fascinating tale...it took me a while to get the punchline because I was still trying to visualize that moon-shot scenario. But yes, Cloozoe, you are quite correct. There are just three of us (and that would explain why, when in the Catskills, folks are continually asking for a delivery date on that reel.

The forum's own Jim Lowe, who not only fishes cane rods, also makes them, is of African-American persuasion. And there's a gentleman who mostly fishes the Swift and the Farmington. Used to show up on a Gold Wing, but lately has been driving all-weather transportation. The first one I ever met was in surprising circumstances: he was from Connecticut, but I used to run into him on the Miramichi circa thirty years ago.

We're priviledge to have a few "gentlemen of color" here in the South that are fine fly fishermen... one of which worked with me while he was still in uniform. Ted and I shared a few fishing trips together. As I remember Ted played football for Penn.

Excellent point, Michael. Few blacks into fly fishing, though I distinctly remember about 10 years ago fishing on the Salmon River during the peak, probably mid-October, when the river was ganged with men shoulder to shoulder & Salmon were roiling & boiling the riffles as they tried to bang up through the 100s of bouncing flies. What an interesting thread! I voted and am proud, tho I believe you should also have a division for anglers of color (of either gender). I'm certain we would be found to be a tinier minority than those of Pink's persuasion.
