Sounds like we need to sit down and have a planning meeting for next year's gathering??? We should be able to reach a compromise between what we do at say either the SRG or CRR get togethers and the "free for all" that we currently have going... don't you think?

Was the Trout Fest a positive thing or negative relative to the gathering? If it was a positive, then maybe we should look at planning concurrency for the next go around and possibly even having a table or...

Finally a chance to report! Had a couple of crazy busy days when we returned.

We had a grand time in Townsend. We didn't get to see much of some of the board members, as I was focused pretty much on fishing as much as possible. I must say that Little River Outfitters was a great place for us to meet, but I never was really clear on WHEN we were supposed to meet, so I just went fishing. Thank you for a great job of getting this gathering together. Speaking for us Charlotte guys "A good time was had by all" and we all hope to be back again next year.

Attended the Troutfest this past weekend. Heard about the 'boo bash from Czkid, and then somebody else here in Nashville, said I should look up Michael Sinclair for some info on a rod I have. Never could hook up with Mr. Sinclair, but got to meet a few of you there on the side of LRO, but unfortunately didn't get any names. However, when I turned to building corner and was confronted with all those diminutive brook rods, I said to myself that this is a good place for me to be....

You guys don't know how happy I am to hear that things went well. I've spent the weekend at the hospital with my bride again, this time with an abscess that needed to be drained... but it looks now like we may well have turned the corner. The doctors are thinking we may have finally gotten all the infections out of Basye and she can now use her strength to beat the cancer.

I wanted to thank everybody who made it down to the Townsend rod gathering this weekend--there were some really fine rods out there on the casting yard Saturday morning! I'm happy to say that East Tennessee was well represented by rod builders Walter Babb from Sweetwater, Bob Norwood and Hal Manus from the greater Knoxville metropolitan region, and Robert King and Mike Fennel (sp?) from the Tri-cities. The Charlotte area builders Tim Wilhelm and Gary Jones also brought some fine builds...

Hopefully next year we'll all be together again. It's been rough for some of us this spring, and with luck we will all manage to resolve our individual problems and difficulties and manage to gather together nex year. But for those this year........ God Speed!!! and Petri Heil!!

It really hurts.... not being able to attend this year's event. Sounds like Jon et al. have everything well in hand and that this will be the best bash to date. I'll especially miss Byron's hospitaltity at LRO, fishing and kibitzing with Ralph, exploring new frontier's (for me anyway) with Rich, and watching Jan try to fish Metcalf Bottoms with that english sack (o/w known as a purse) slung across his shoulder.

Good to hear from y'all--it's shaping up to be a great weekend, I think. If we don't get too much rain Wednesday and Thursdays, stream levels ought to be great and the trout will be looking up. You guys enjoy yourselves... I've got Basye home again, and hopefully she's going to remain "stable" this time. We are having recurring bouts of infection in the colon... one post surgical, the other colitus... treating the surgical one with antibiotics causes the colitus to flair up. The pills for the colitus are $2000 for a treatment... don't you know Blue Cross Blue Shield loves me!!!

IF things remain stable I might run up that way...

Tim Wilhelm, Tim's son,Tom Phillips, and myself will be rolling in Thursday afternoon. Will be at Dock's cabin 22. We are bringing some stuff to put on a small presentation on beginner rodmaking, if there is any interest from the folks that are there. Will make the decision as to when and where after we get there and see what folks want to do.
An evening at Troutfest does sound like it would be fun and Micheal since Harry won't be there with his Cajun Coffee I will...

It has been my understanding that there are no scheduled activities. I will be there early Friday morning and might take up the offer of New Orleans style coffee.I am not even sure if anyone has decided a particular place or area where we will get together.
