The reel diameter is 3" and the spool width is 15/16". It is LHW with a 13-position adjustable drag. The end-cap on the back is engraved
"ALW." It came in a black leatherette zip pouch, in a cream bag marked "The Walker Fly Reel" in black.

Don't know whether the plates are rubber or Delrin. Suspect the latter, as they are very shiny/glossy.

Johan: Decided to weigh my non-D LHW TR2 on the same scale. Again, pretty close, at 4.9 oz.

Dennis: Thank you. (I recall reading about your incredible buy.) Have been looking at the ones in Rick's archive. There are also some in Mike
Reynolds' archives, if you care to look. None that I've seen has the little cap for the counterweight, though.

These are wonderfully smooth reels; definitely keepers. Now gotta get one of the little ones.

Bob,
You might want to look Rick Sorenson's site "Westslope Classic Fly Tackle" in the archive section he has a few with fixed drags and rubber sides.
The TR2 was owned by me and reconditioned by Bill A. He did a beautiful job on my TR2 which I bought off Ebay for a song. Best reel buy I ever made since the
profit paid for a free Mint Mike Montagne Quad 7'6' 2/2 4 wt. Great reel which you'll cherish.

Regards,

Brian,
thank you regarding the"D".

I just weighed the two Walkers I have. The 3' (TR D 3/ American) weighs 152 gr. = ca. 5.4 oz (Info in Swedish cat: 147 gr. = ca. 5.2 oz.)

The 2 3/4 (Catskill) weighs 142 gr. = 5 oz. (Swedish cat: 133 gr. = ca. 4.7 oz.)

When I studied my Swedish catalog from 1977/78, I found that I was mistaken about the smallest one. It was called "The Fairie" (2 1/4 at 3 oz.) not

I weighed mine on a cheapo kitchen diet scale, and it came in at a hair over 5 oz., close enough to the 5.24 you cite, considering the variability in scales.

Reel is off to Bill A, for a replacement cap-screw & whatever else he thinks needs doing.

The catalog from which I showed the pic was Fireside Angler, Inc 1975. After just looking thru it the only information I can give is that the D most certainly
stands for the adjustable drag.
Also, it states the weight of this reel at 5.24 oz's and retail price of $100.

Nice reel. Brian

BobS,
I bought a similar reel on an auction in 2006 or 2007. The only difference is that my reel is a RHW - and that I found no plastic/ rubber/ nylon cap under the
foam cutout when I looked for it today.
It was offered as a TR 3.
Some five years ago, I bougth the 2 3/4 version on an auction here in Scandinavia. 13 - position adjustable drag (yellow dots).

These series of reels were call The Midge 2 1/4, The Club 2 1/2, The Catskill,2 3/4, The American 3' and finally...

Sounds like a TR3.

Although, the Model 54 has those exact dimensions. I think the 54 (earlier than the TR series) had nickel-silver rims, a sculpted (not all flat) front plate
and was definitely hard rubber.
