Its been far too long between bottle acquisitions. I've had the bottle on the left for awhile but just picked up the one on the right. Does anyone know of any other Hewitt bottles?

Here is my submission to this great topic, a Walton's Engine that I made. Darrel Martin describes these in his book "The Fly-Fisher's Craft: The Art and History". I made this one by studying the reproduction in the book, several woodcuts, and photographs of antique engines. These are useful for making horse hair fly lines, furling leaders and twisting gut for Atlantic Salmon flies.

Enigma,
Neil Patterson describes a box just like that in "Chalkstream Chronicle" that he uses for a portable fly tying kit. He says it was an old collar/tab box from the days when men got their collars and shirts back from the laundry separately.

It looks to me like a gentlemans case for shirt collars and cufflinks. The collar studs would be held in the semicircular insert in the case lid.

This is one of my favorite threads! Here's a cool fly box from Rubin's Sport Shop in Lewistown, PA, about 50 miles SW from where I live. It is made of celluloid and imitation leather - think it dates back to the 30's and maybe earlier (faux leather became widely used around 1927) - what do you think? Depends on size and condition. A large one in super shape can bring decent money while a small one that is moth eaten will not have much value.
