I'm fortunate to live within a mile of the Kinnickinnic River, in River Falls, Wisconsin. I get out fishing at least three times a week. I can rig up and go hit the river for and hour, or so. I'm grateful to have a good spring creek so close to home.

Outside of work, family and church, all I do is fish, but I don't do much of it. Luckily, as Sparse Grey Hackle said: "some of the best fishing is print" and with my books, I go out every night around 10:00. With 3 younger kids and their sports (coaching 2 of them) and the homework and the music...

I'm fortunate, as it takes me less than 4 minutes to get to the local stream and I'm within an hour of some big time fishing (all trout). Normally, I average about 20 hours per week during the season (kids grown and gone and an understanding spouse). Here in Michigan, this season hasn't been too good due to so much rain. Rivers have been high and stained (and the mosquitoes this year are the most voracious I've ever encountered in this state!) - average is a bit down so far...

This year so far............. 4 days.
Will add about 10 more days to the total if I am lucky.
I work 50 plus hours a week, butt in car about 20 hrs week.
So it leaves me little time to hit the trout stream.

On the good note I have built a nice craft room for me and the miss's.
varnished a rod the other day that I wrapped 2 years ago.........

So if I can not get out to fish I can work on rods.

I live Rockport, TX where we have wonderful fly fishing for tailing redfish, and I do it with a kayak and bamboo rod. I make 30 - 35 outings a year around here. I normally make an annual trip to northern New Mexico and southern Colorado for a week or two of trout fishing. I also put in 15 days or so on our "tailwater", the Guadalupe River. It's mostly nymph fishing, but I still enjoy it. I probably get in 55 to 60 days a year, and I savor each and every one; fish or no fish.

I probably get out about 60 days a year, maybe a little more. I fish for trout April-September, Kings in September and October, and Steelhead from mid fall right through the teeth of winter and into the spring run. We also take at least one week long trip somewhere, last year it was Montana, this year we stayed close and fished the UP. During the nice fall weather we also do a few long weekends.

Every Friday \ Saturday \Sunday from March to October for trout and weekdays 2-3 times per for panfish.

I get out only a dozen or so times a year for trout. Over the last 2-3 years I have rediscovered the Bass and Panfish. I fished for Bass religiuosly when I was a Kid, with poppers and an old 6 wt fenwick glass rod. During the hottest part of summer the fishing was fantastic, and I fished four or five days a week, alkways within a bike ride of my home in the Philadelphia Burbs. Now in MA I have found fantastic Bass fishing in My backyard, no more do I pack up the rod in mid june and pray for...

Around 25 full days and 50 partial days.

I live with a trout/smallmouth/striper river a few minutes from the house, some other tailwaters a half-hour drive away, and the Catskills within an hour-and-a-half.

And my buddies and I usually do a weeklong flyfishing/canoe float trip up in northern Maine each year.

Hard to put an actual number on it, but I get in about 40 full-days a year, plus 15-20 partial days. the full days are spread around between annual trips to SW Montana (10-14 days) around salmonfly time, California (3-5 days) and on Washington streams (20+ days). Sometimes, I'm lucky enough to get in a second, shorter trip (5-7 days) in late season (late Aug. - early Sept.) to SW Montana.

The partial days are spent on local streams in summer that are a mere 20-30 minute drive...

Not nearly enough!!

We live a minimum of 3 1/2 hours fron any trout waters,which is the only fishing we prefer.Even though,we manage at least a long w/e every other month,and even do some hellacously long day trips to be able to fish.An annual trip to Montana,or other favorite trout state for a minimum week or 2..............................................guess that roughly adds up to about 50 days or so a year.Looking to make a move sometime soon,actually as soon as decent...

About 15 to 20 times per year, way down from my Montana residence; then 50 to 60 times per year. Current limitation includes my and my wife's health issues, taking care of the dog, trying to do something with our Eastern shore property and, of course, the cost of fuel. I curse the day I sold my Montana property. I had a great stream (small but great) 75 yards from my back door and another, a bit larger, less than a 5 minute drive away. the Gallatin was just a bit further. But now...

Jay and I have something special and not particularly admirable in common: no time or an inappropriate location to fish as often as we would like. 6 to 10 days a year is all I can manage now. I'll correct that soon since my retirement is now imminent and I hope Jay can follow close behind. My objective in retirement is 100 days + per year. I hope to surpass the goal.

I was looking at my calendar for the last two years and saw I got out about 65 times in 2006 and about 60 times in 2007. It got me wondering how often others who frequent this forum get out.
