I think the advances in lines in the spey or two-hand casting world are the biggest area of progress in years. The difference between regular double tapers and
specialized spey tapers shows off with any rod, as long as the load matches the rod and you slow down so as not to overpower it.
The modern rod companies try to sell stiff rods for Scandi lines, but these lines also work very well with slower full flexing rods and a slower stroke. I
used a Vision Ace line on the 11 and 12 foot...

I am sorry about the confusion regarding the double handed casting. An Orvis Salmon rod comes with a 3 inch extension butt so I was casting using my both
hands. Obviously, spey casting can be done using both single handed and double handed rods. It is basically a modified roll cast with more "juice"
delivered into the back cast. Spey casting is my main venue of casting a fly on the Mid-Western rivers. It keeps it in front of me at all times as compared to
overhead casting that is...

I second that. Any chance you could post a video somewhere? Also, I'm a little confused by your description. I admit I know nothing about spey casting,
but my impression was that it's usually done with a two handed rod? And surely the orvis you mentioned is just a regular one handed fly rod? I would love
to learn more about the technique, though, so any and all info you're willing to share would be appreciated.

I am a very, very mediocre caster. Posting videos of mediocrity could not taste too well. Did not mean to brag or anything. Just that I have been thoroughly
surprised by the power reserve and possibilities offered by bamboo rods. They are supposed to be slow, right? Underhand ., i.e., scandinavian style of casting
is presumably better suited for rods with a very stiff butt and mid-section, rods with a severely tip action. Here comes my experience. I got a little tired
after waiving 8 oz of...

How about a little video footage of your discovery? I for one and I'm sure several others would like to see your style....I'm always up for learning.
