I spoke with him for quite a while yesterday; he actually has two of them, one that is damaged and one that is pristine. Jim has friend that also has two more of them.

I regret I cannot give you any info about the man, or rods, you seek. However, there has been lively discussion on "twisted" rods on the rodmakers' list and I have never understood the fascination. i assume you are his great-grandson?? Anyway, I wish you luck, and do find them interesting. Very ornate rods, with agate guides throughout?? Hmmm...
