one old timer&#39;s method of determining guide spacing on rods was to affix the handle of the rod to a barn (or other) wall - as simple as installing two 20
penny nails with rubber tubing or duct tape protection - hanging an appropriate weight from the tiptop, marking the path of the flexed rod shaft with a pencil,
removing the weight, installing reel and stringing the line through the taped on guides, attaching the weight to the line, and moving the guides till the... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ Older production rods seem to have used fewer guides as a way of producing a less expensive rod and many of those rods benefit from adding more guides when
they are rebuilt/refinished.

 I usually use the rule of thumb -- length of rod in feet + 1 = number of snakes, plus one stripper plus tip top.
