Hi!

Finding salmon spey tapers are a bit difficult. Is there any one who have measured salmon tapers or created them? I am looking for +12" tapers.

I have casted River Watch 13" Penta and it was a wonderful rod. Also tried some Hardy's, Sharpes, Waara and Allcocks.

Please post here or send PM.

Thanks!

Chris,
I was unable to find the rods you added to RodDNA? I am new with the program. How can I check the updated database? I only find a list of rods and there are
only couple of spey rod tapers. I think the reason is that I can't use it well.

Try the updated RodDNA database. I have entered all the tapers in the back of Wofram Schott's book "Bamboo under the Microscope" that includes a
lot of Spey tapers - Hardy, Leonard, two Sharpes, P&M, Noergaards plus a playfair Grant Vibration. I have a RodDNA database with them in it.

Vinnie is right about the Sharpes rods. I have an 11.5 foot 8 weight, and have cast a 12 foot 9 weight with ferrules. They are both very nice, and could
probably be bought at reasonable prices, if you can find one.
I should have mentioned that one of the absolute best spey rods I have ever cast is the one built by Vincent Marinaro. It's a 14 foot rod with a 9 weight
tip, and a lighter tip that I think would be better with an 8, although I could not try that the day we cast the rod....
