I&#39;m owner of 12 acres of forest and a fishing cabin in the Ozarks near the Current River in MO.  I just sent in a response to the survey.  I believe timber
can be responsibly harvested and forest productivity can be improved by proper practices but the catastrophic strip mine logging and agricultural burning of
the Ozark hill sides of the 20s and 30s of the last century must never be repeated.  Timbering is picking up again in the Ozarks as evidenced by timber prices

			<description><![CDATA[ MFRS, I chose the forum to post the survey basically to see what people who spend a lot of time in the outdoors think about forestry. I honestly didn&#39;t
think I would get the response I did from the forum. The survey also has been used to gather data from those with business, medical, and liberal arts
backgrounds.

I got my Masters from SUNY Env. Sci. and Forestry at the tender age of 39.  Try and pick up skills, such as GIS,  that would be useful in other fields if the

			<description><![CDATA[ Just took the survey, but I agree that it is not oriented toward most participants of this forum. And there&#39;s a definite political, non-scientific bent to
the statements. I realize that forestry professionals often feel embattled, but they should have some self-awareness regarding that defensiveness. So I think
the flaw is in the survey methodology (&amp; transparency), not the profession itself. ]]></description>

control/fire management with large fire organizations around the country.

I&#39;d say that this is good time to look at grad school because the current economic situation is forcing budget limitations on new hires...both agencies and

			<description><![CDATA[ I had fun looking at your survey, Sam. My Master&#39;s in Wildlife Science from Univ. of Tennessee had a survey component to it - Farmer&#39;s attitudes
towards deer and deer damage in west Tenn and Kentucky. I also have degrees from Cornell and SUNY Environmental Sci and Forestry. The first statement - the
largest tree in the forest is the oldest - tells the tale. My answer would definately, emphatically be &quot;maybe&quot;. So I couldn&#39;t fill out the

an understanding of landowners attitudes and what they think is going on out there. Some of the questions I used are very similar to what is on that survey.

I went to take the survey but there were too many questions that can&#39;t really be answered with a yes/no, agree/disagree.  Also, some of the questions
seemed worded to elicit a certain answer.  As someone with a M.S. in Forest Resource Mgmt. I didn&#39;t feel comfortable completing the survey.
