Im interested in getting a used bamboo fly rod. Ive been fly fishing for about 5 years, and ive kinda always had my eye on a bamboo rod. Now, i need a 3 weight
rod, and im thinking about getting a vintage bamboo rod. My budget is 300 dollars, (i dont know if this is even possible). If there are any websites or
dealers that sell items like this it would be great if someone knows.

I think a bamboo rod that light is a very impractical and easily damaged rod. I would never want anything less than a four weight rated rod. You can always
cast the lighter line on it. A true 4 weight would easily handle a three weight line. I'd stick to graphite for something that wispy. The first really big
fish would likely put a bad set it it anyway.

You're not as far out of the ballpark as it might seem. I would check with Jim Bresko at Coldwater Collectibles (singlemalt on this board); he has a Dave
Cottengim 7' 4-weight available now for $350; Dave sells his rods on Ebay and they are available fairly often; I imagine he has some 3-weights. Larry
Tusoni at High Sierra rods makes a 5'6 one-piece 3-weight for $499. I have one and it's a nice rod.

Never heard of him. I would save a couple hundred extra dollars and get a Blitzen 2/1 rod from Chris McDowell. He sells them for right around 500 bucks and
it is a great rod from a great maker. he makes one that is 7 ft. and cast a 3 if I remember correctly.

will fit very nice in your budget too.

I agree with Tim, a 3 weight is going to be rather difficult for $300.00.

You might try and find a Heddon, single tip trade rod that casts a 4 weight. Should be relatively close to your budget.
