learning a new craft, and picked up Trout Bum, among others, at the local bookstore. Changed my life. Seriously. The chapter about bamboo especially

Dear Bummy,

Before you jump into this disease with both feet let me suggest caution. A Jensen made rod, while a great rod at a moderate price, might be a bit of a risk
for starters. For example I broke three bamboo rods last year, a 7 1/2' Heddon, a 7' Phillipson, and a 8' H-I for a total loss of about $1500.00.
Since these were the only rods I've broken in over 60 years of fly fishing, I cannot say last year's disasters were typical, but they were nonetheless...

Howdy Tex,

I'm a close neighbor in Garland. You've come to the right spot to further the obsession, just as I did not many years ago. I've now got a few
bamboo rods, including a great one from the above Harry Boyd. These are compassionate folks, and will quickly dispell any feeling of being on the outside, at
least in here. Drop me a pm sometime and we'll go fish some bamboo.
