CANEnABLE - No disrespect taken.

CZ Kid - A very good point. Actually this is one of the biggest reasons I have resisted changing jobs up to this point.

Frogmorton - I've never had Tadcaster Porter, never even seen it up here. I'd have to substitute Saranac Black and Tan, or maybe a short glass of Jack Daniels. With a good cigar.

As long as you can pay the bills I prioritze in this order:

1) Family
2) Fishing
3) Proximity to good Tex-Mex
4) Proximity to a liquor store that carries Samuel Smith's Tadcaster Porter

I enjoy work but life satisfaction comes from the above. My greatest pleasure now is knowing my kids as adults and parents.

All very good advice, but let me throw in a word of caution as a retired executive. The family should come first... but that means different things to different people. I thought at one time it meant upward mobility, more responsibility, bigger office, etc. etc. That cost me my first family. North Country, Sorry. I didn't mean to go off on a rant. I get a little fired up when I think of how Big Media and Big Business have turned us into consumers instead of citizens. Our kids really do come before everything, and in the final analysis we do what's in their best interest no matter the personal cost. Give it a little more time, thought and prayer. You'll know the right answer when you reach it.

Blacknosedace - I have always wholeheartedly agreed with your viewpoint. Certain members of my family do not share my opinion. So it has become more than an idealogical struggle with myself. It is a struggle to keep and live up to my values, but balance that with - as so many have correctly pointed out -the wishes of my family.

I was 28, and had spent my college and early working years in urban metro areas. I hated every second of it. Lets say you (for the most part) are happy where you currently live.You've lived there for a long time, and are comfortable. There's decent fishing within a five minute drive from your house, and good fishing within an hour's drive.
