It's a moving target for me.
Any fine singlemalt shared with friends around the campfire after a long day of fishing is my current favorite.
The latest being Balvenie Double Wood shared on day four of an 11 day self-guided float trip somewhere in Alaska.
Had it been any of the aforementioned malts, it would have been equally spectacular. No doubt, environment colors my perception.

I'll add a vote for Talisker 18 and 10, and I've long been a fan of Highland Park preferring the flavor profile of the 15 to the 12 and 18. My new
friend is The Singleton of Glendullan. It's a Dufftown Malt - not to be confused with The Singleton of Glen Ord or The Singleton of Auchroisk or The
Singleton of Dufftown. I think the Glenndullan drinks best with a few drops of water added. It won't blow you away, but what 12 will? At about $40,
it's just an excellent buy...

Stylistically, I prefer the Islay. The peatier the better. Laphroig has a quarter cask and a cask strength bottling that are both very nice.

Talisker is a good one too.

Speysides are a nice change once in a while, too light and the appeal disappears.

I'll second that Famous Grouse is a good option.

a nice, smooth 7 year old which shares time first in a bourbon cask and then the last 1.5 years of its aging in a spanish red wine cask. Nice peat, and a very
nice scotch for people who like McCallan and other similar single malts. Ric

Seven pages and still noone has mentioned Glenfarclas, so I have . If you like Macallan (my favourite as well) you will like Glenfarclas. The distillery is
situated just around the corner from Cragganmore near Ballindalloch on the junction of the Spey and Avon (pronounced Arn). I toasted my first ever salmon many
years ago with a Macallan at the Ballindalloch hotel but Glenfarclas comes a very very close second.

Best malt is by far, Cragganmore (sherry cask if you can get it) as good as a digestive as it is as an apperitif. The Glenlivet is terrific, so is Bowmore; an
18 year old Macallan is outstanding but very expensive hence its a bit down my list, the 15 year old is nearly as good and not so expensive. Oban is a nice
light drink on a summers evening while sitting watching the ferry come in to the harbour. Longmorn is good but hard to find. Glenmorangie was my 1st malt and
a good starting point...
