As Mr. Payne appears to have won out in the "Who was the best bamboo rodbuilder" thread, I was hopeful the owners of his rods

could post some pictures of same so we could see why he is so well respected and collected.

Any accompanying text as to how you acquired the rod, how it fishes, whatever you wish to tell us about your particular rod or rods would be welcomed.

Kind of a homage from the folks who today still understand and appreciate his efforts to create the best!

Actually, I'd try the Banty with a 4wt or even a 5wt to start. At two ounces with that length, it's probably a pretty fast rod and will need a little
weight to load.
Nice rod, BTW.

I have not fished a rod this short, and I am a little apprehensive about it. At the same Lang's Auction, I also picked up a Summers Midge that was

Thanks for the post. Don't know much Payne history, so that is good to know. Acquired it at Lang's auction not too long ago sight unseen......and was
hoping I wasn't going to be dissapointed when it arrived, and I wasn't. Billed by Lang's as unfished, but who knows. Can't attest to the
rarity of it, but I still intend to take it out on the water this spring. Any other history would be greatly appreciated.
