I just picked this one up. Looks like a Phillipson Premium eliptical handle 7 1/2' 2/2 one tip down 3".

Are these wraps original and what sort of value with one broken tip?

No bag or tube.

Thanks

Richard

I have what looks to be an identical rod (7 1/2' early Peerless) and it feels really good with a DT5 Cortland Classic Peach. A good place to start for you.

Howdy Richard,
The Phillipson "Peerless" and "Premium" rods are very close in value if not identical (all things being equal between the two rods such as
length, condition, etc.). Looking over your pics the guesstimate freestoner listed above is pretty accurate with this rod leaning towards the $350.00-$400.00
mark.
Hope i have been of some help,

I agree,
I looked at the rod and it looks like it probably says Peerless.
On one of the other flats not photographed it looks like it does say impregnated although it is worn and so I am fairly sure.
Thanks all for your help. Bruce your photo is appreciated.

Any Idea if the value changes based on peerless as apposed to premium.

Russ,
I think your right I am starting to think the same thing after reading Mike Sinclairs Restoration Book.
I left the rod at my shop. Tommorow I will look at the remaining markings and see if it looks like the spelling of peerless or premium. I am leaning toward
Peerles
Thanks

Howdy Richard,
Looking at the pics your rod appears to be impregnated and has the dark finish that was common on the early "Peerless" models. The Premium's were
not impregnated.
Hope this helps,

Yes, those are the original wrap colors, and it looks like the original windings to me. It's an impregnated rod, which means that evidently there's
less protection against the signature getting rubbed off.

Value approx. $350-450, with one down tip, no sock or tube. The low estimate is accounting for the present softness of the market.
