Does anyone have any information on Sievert Reels. I have come across one, a model 200. All I could find when I did a websearch, was patent information.
Apparently they were made in New England. That's all I know, and would like to know more. Thanks.

I'm not sure I can add too much to the couple of thorough posts already made. The first Sieverts were available through them directly and a very few fly
shops around 1990. I was a Sievert dealer since the very beginning of my business in 1992. The original retail was $595.00, but that was quickly jumped up to
$750.00 by the time I got on board. I've often described the Sievert dual-mode system as seamless. Not only wasn't there very much slop in the handle
between AR and DD mode,...

All of the above is right on the money. Sieverts were among the first dual-mode (anti-reverse with direct drive) reels and were a result of Jim Green's
design ingenuity and Al Sievert's engineering. Jim Green got the idea from the old Youngs Landex and modified a Hardy Ocean Prince into the first crude
prototype. They came in two models, one slightly wider than the other. Both were steelhead/saltwater sized reels and were strongly built and a bit heavy. The
dual mode mechanism worked...

The Sievert Dual Mode fly reels are a patented design and were made in Ridgecrest, California. Al Sievert was good friends with Jimmy Green of Fenwick and
together they developed the prototype of this reel by modifying an anti-reverse Hardy Ocean Prince. They mounted lugs on the face of the Ocean Prince spool so
when the reel was cranked, the half crank arm engaged the lugs and placed the spool in a direct drive mode. Al explained to me how he developed the design and
about a year or two...
