I was wondering if you casted any new makers rods at the gathering that you were particularly impressed with?

It was a great day of casting and seeing friends again. There was probably one of the best selections of Rods we've had there yet.
My only disapointment was I didn't have time to get in line for bob's new rod but my son was just jonesing for some fishing.

There was a Bob Taylor 6' 9" for 3wt on the rack that was, for me, the star of the show. About as sweet as it gets with 15 - 20 ft of line off the tip. Some day....

Had a great time Saturday with my Boo-Boys. The old cane was plentiful, and some really nice new ones also.

Taylor had his Payne parabolic that Tom mentioned, still with the handle protector on, and we were the first ones to cast it. What a fine piece that is, everyone who touched it fell in love. Its for sale, by the way.

You need not worry about any continuing badgering.... I've been licking my wounds well and miss having your rod to lawn cast down here in VA...I may be up for the big hatches , but the way things continue to go I'll see you at the cane gathering in September.

catskill cane is growing! we'll be at the livingston manor gym from 9- 12. besides a great assortment of classic rods, we will have quite a few rods by contemporary makers. catskill john will be bringing the dream model 50 we were casting at the flyfest. we'll get to try it out without the white stuff all around us.
last year we jack brought harry's dickerson that he chopped up and made a three piece out of. that takes a lot of nerve! but it was a casting machine. who...

Cane in the Catskills, April 4th

Mike Canazon is having his casting get-together on opening day, Saturday April 4th, 10:00-12:00 at the Livingston Manor School right in the middle of town. This is a great little event, and since many guys are going to first cast at Junction Pool anyway, this is the icing on the cake.

Try to attend, there are numerous rods to try, and you get to see all the winter projects for the first time. CJ
