looking for a fast trout rod taper to handle big and fast water and big wind, and the fisherman wants all the muscle he can get, kinda counter intuitive to
bamboo but I&#39;ll do my homework.

			<description><![CDATA[ Hi Guys,  I still think we haven&#39;t defined the term &#39;fast taper.&#39;  Fast casting is not the same as fast taper.  The fastest taper is one with a
taper that is, by definition, fast.  Check out Cattanach&#39;s comments in Hexrod.  I think the question is answered only with numbers not castability, best on
a windy day, etc.   Only how many thousands of taper/inch answers the question.  I&#39;d say to consider only the working taper, that is, not inclusive of
swelled butt or other... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I&#39;m with Chuck (Blue Quill) on the Para tapers to get to fast.  The only thing that fights wind etc is line speed and I think the Para tapers have been
described as providing the highest line speed per weight in the rod of any other taper.  Yea the rod bends but when you get the stroke right it is an
effortless powerful rod.  I use a MVBrooks permacane Para 15 that is a great big water, windy day Bighorn River style big fish rod that whups all the

			<description><![CDATA[ Hi Guys,  The question, to my mind hasn&#39;t been answered by referring to rods with out numbers.  Saying a rod casts a 9wt, say, &#39;like a canon&#39;
isn&#39;t specific.  I might have a short light rod with a very fast taper or a long heavy rod with not much taper at all.  My brother has a 7&#39; Leonard
that [oops I only have the taper for the tip and mid] well anyway, I think it&#39;s light and fast. It&#39;s .003/inch on those sections.  I thank Blue Quill

15&quot; with a regressive taper (virtually no taper from the butt to about 10&quot; below the ferrule). It came with a light and heavy tip and was a very
popular big-river rod.

reference on one page of that book, about them supplying the rod model to Empire Tackle Company in New York. Weirder yet, it&#39;s an impregnated rod. ]]></description>

heavier-line rods marked for lighter lines.

If there&#39;s wind and distance involved and a customer wants to throw a lot of 5wt line he wants a powerful rod, not a fast rod. A PHY Parabolic 15, Garrison
212, or similar parabolic or progressive taper will throw all the 5wt line one will ever need, into a wind, and with excellent... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I had a Kusse 71/2&#39; five weight that a friend described as a pr..kstick.  Needless to say it was one of his fast tapers. After breaking off several trout
one day (not saying the fisherman wasn&#39;t without fault) the rod found a new owner.
