Hi,

my name is Markus and I am very happy with my new Orvis Battenkill Joe Brooks model, GBF ( 8 ), (4 3/4 oz, length: 8,5`). Yesterday, I casted it for the first
time and tried a Sage Perfomance Taper WF7 with it. After a couple of minutes I got used to it and came to the "conclusion" that said line fits well
to the rod.

Nevertheless, I would be happy to get further line recommendations for my Orvis Battenkill Joe Brooks model (4 3/4 oz, length: 8,5`) which may be fit better....

Hi,

thank you very much for you comments.... That`s nice to hear that a WF7 seems to fit well to the Orvis Battenkill... I am still new too bamboo rods and only
have some experience with a Garrison 202E taper.... Thus, I have to get used to the rather slower taper.... According to my opinion, the Joe Brooks model has a
lot of power, but it is not immediately obvious.... at least to me... :-)

Thanks again.....

It's a slow rod by design and I have always liked it with a WF 7. I would think the Sage line would work as well as any. That's a good line. I'm
not fond of the rod with the suggested 8 WF line.

Markus,
I like the "Joe Brooks" model quite a bit and use it with a 7-weight line too. I've never had a reason to try the rod with a DT6, but it
wouldn't surprise me if it handled one nicely.

Hi Guys, What they said.... However, I think Orvis rods are somewhat famous for working well or better with a lighter line. I have owned several, one an
8', with a 12 ferrule I fished for years with a 6wt. 'cause that's what it said on the rod. Then a 5wt. 'cause I liked it better. Now
'cause of it's a 12 ferrule I like it with a 4wt. I got the rod for X-mas in 1976. So you see.....Things change. Jay Edwards

Hi Banjo,

of course each caster has its own preference, but I think there should be some kind of "overlap" between the personal taste of each caster.... I am
only curious if someone prefers may be a 6 or 8 line on it, but me I prefer a 7 weight line....

I am still on the way to find the "perfect" line..... :-)

Best regards

Line recommendation is just that Markus a recommendation. Each caster has their own unique casting stroke and the best way to know what the best line is for
the rod you are using is to listen to the rod. I always will try a new line if given the chance as it keeps me satisfied that I already have the best line for
the rod or not. Regards......
