Slippin Off Solo

I have a had a great first quarter fishing wise. I got to spend a weekend camping with my youngest son and one of his friends in early February. It was cold
but beautiful and we managed to catch fish. I spent most of the 2 days helping my son work with his friend who had never fly fished before …. We traded off so
each of us could catch a few fish on our own as well. All in all a great trip and a great opportunity to bring the fly fishing experience to another new comer....

Beautiful, thanks for the mind trip. I worry about this -- how many more solo trips have I left? Sad thought, depressing, but real -- one cane pal is having
two knees replaced. Another is battling a terrible cancer in his gut. Neuropathy has killed his balance, his touch, and he says he cannot hike a streak with
rocks any longer.

On the Southwest Board we were discussing dangers onstream -- we have a lot of falling rocks due to our seismically active region (we give thanks...

Wonderful account and photographs. I too enjoy the occasional chance to "slip off solo" with a favorite bamboo rod. I look forward to your account
of your exploits on the White River in Arkansas. I too finished the first quarter with a trip to the White to renew old and to start new friendships (Bob,
Harry, Ralph, Steve, Chad and Henry to name a few) and to fish a dry fly to midging browns and rainbows.

you're title, slippin off solo, lead me to think that you were going to take a swim somewhere during the trip -- you know, slipping off a rock while
fishing solo. I was glad to read that you were still dry at the end of the day! I must be having a "glass is half empty" kind of day. Great pics
of a pretty stream.
