Both a friend and I used TransTint dark mission brown and achieved the same results. Our blanks were nicely dyed a dark brown but the grain in all nodes was
highlited. Do those of you using this product have the same results ? Do you see this as a problem and if so how do you prevent it? Thank you in advance for
your response!

I actually get pretty good results if I use the alcohol soluble version of Transtint and wet the blank down with alcohol before wiping the dye on. I can
duplicate the color of an old Browntone, which is what I think the poster is after, reliably that way.

The only way to get a nice color on bamboo is with a torch or an oven, I've tried every form of stain, dye and chemical and they all have a signature
weirdness about the color they leave behind that to me doesn't look good. I guess I've finished too much trim and too many cabinets.

Fisheye, have you used TransTint and if so did you get this the same results. Thanks for the sussestions. We have tried one of the products you suggested but
we are uncomfortable with its non penitrating nature. We really are pleased with the color of our rods with the exception of the additional darkening of the
node grain. Hope that someone can help us solve the problem.

Jeff Fultz sells a browntoner that I've seen works nicely. Also, you cna try Solar Lux in the Dark Walnut color. It leaves a thin layer on the cane, but
looks nice under varnish. Put at least two coats of varnish on the rod before sanding or you will remove it.
