        <![CDATA[ I thought I would mention/show this reel bag. It was at a farmers market, as a small coin/jewelry pouch,  and I asked the guys if he would make me a couple to
fit 3 3/4 &quot; fly reels.  This is what it looks like and for $8 bucks you can&#39;t go wrong.  The leather is so soft and would be especially good for the
leaded reels;  it can do the job of the syvelt bags that are getting tougher to find. 





I will apply a bit of light oil to the inside of the bag, rub it on the reel and this... ]]>

			<description><![CDATA[ I like the idea of do it yourself and sometimes it works... it works for you and that is all it counts. From the river to house should be fine if your careful.
The bag will protect the reel from scratches but will not do a good job of protecting the reel handle from weight on it that could bend it out of shape.

Recently I bought a few Hardy neoprene cases that are about $20.00 and are 4mm thick. Good looking and come in three sizes...

			<description><![CDATA[ oldboyscout, I would look at putting some type of cushioning material (ie. foam) behind that velvet as wood does not absorb impact near as well as hard
leather, the impact will transfer to your reel I suspect.

attest to, this is a nice alternative.  It gives very little bump/drop protection but it has a handle, unlike the hard leather case, fits in the glove box
nicely and conforms to small spaces better.  If it is in a car accident tight in a glove box, this beats the hard case on the passenger seat or on the floor

			<description><![CDATA[ The lack of padding makes me nervous for travel. However I freely admit to gear protection / maintenance paranoia.  If  I dropped or accidentally bumped a reel
out of the back of the vehicle while loading gear, I think a cased reel handles this better.   I have a couple that came with bags and have always added a
padded case of some sort.  If you move your gear in a bag of some sort and are likely to put your reel safely away with your rod first (watching the car lean
get vest / waders off... ]]></description>

have one. Works good.

Any bag is better than none, as far as cushioning from bumps and falls. I buy those cordura nylon camera bags for my reels, whenever I find them cheap at yard
sales or thrift stores.

saying the bag is no good , there is no reason to soak a reel in oil , if it&#39;s wet dry it out and lighty oil it , then put back in the bag , i just find it
funny that a reel worth great big money is not worth the little bit to have it in a correct bag or leather case ,
