Hello to all!

I would like to get information of my unmarked LHW reel. Handle is broken but overall condition looks good. It functions like LHW reel should. Diameter
3". Metal parts inside are blued.

This Dingley reel looks totally similar as mine:

I am pleased if someone knows where I could find a handle for my reel!

Regards,

Juho

Juho, nice reel. The "V" is the roman numeral for 5, matching the 5 punch marks to the frame. The spool would not likely take a punch well as it
lacks the thickness the frame has and would probably crack if punched (my Dingleys punch marks to the spool are at a very select location to ensure the spool
is not spoiled). The N/S line guide look like it was installed/reinstalled by Young. I remember seeing aWalker Bampton, a forum member had, that had the
frame built to accept a rim...

Thanks a lot for your answers! I am very happy to get more information.

Maybe agate guide was added like Mark and Daryl mentioned but I can see lead finish on the drilled point where the line guide was added. Guys what do you
think?

I found deep marking from the spool but it does not make any sense for me. No dots stamped on the spool.

Daryl, excellent observation. I too noticed the number of arbor rods. Usually there are 7 to 8 on this size diameter. I suspect this is an early version.

I've got a couple 1920s Dingley with dots instead of numbers. Probably another indication of an early reel.

Nice reel with some unusual features. While almost certianly Dingley made and having the dots on inside of reel there doesn,t look to be any # on foot or a D
inside . Are the 5 dots stamped into spool as well. There usually either on gear or around it.This reel has 6 rods making up center of spool and earlier latch
shape.Might be a really early Dingley. I to think the agate was added but nicely fitted to frame. The line burns I like to think of as battle scares from years
of fishing and not...

Juho -

Nice Dingley, and this is a reel that I wish could talk and share its history. The line-guide appears to have been added and in my opinion looks like it
might be from a JW Young. What is interesting is that they added it in the LHW position and it appears to have been VERY well done.

This reel has great character and is most definitely worth having the foot straightened and a handle made for it.

Thanks for sharing the photos <img...

Thanks for your comments! If this is a Dingley reel I must ask someone repairing it. I hope finding a handle or spool from original Dingley "junk"
reel.

I surely post photos when the job is done.

A definite Dingley, probably early to mid-1920s.

It's possible that the original line guard broke, was removed & the reel used without a guard, and that a new guard was added later. That might help
explain the grooves in the pillars.

Juho,

Could you post a photo of the bottom of the foot? Pending seeing that, I would say this is a Dingley. Note that the line guard pin inside the reel appears to
have been replaced or repaired.

Archuleta's Reel Works, 888-332-7335, 733 Detrick Drive, Grants Pass Oregon 97527, can make you a handle. Otherwise, you'll have to luck into a junk
Dingley reel that can be used for parts. You might try the forum Classifieds with an inquiry.
