Hi all, its been awhile!!

I have been restoring an old 8 1/2' 3/2 Granger Rod with a SB reel seat for some time. When the rod came to me it only had a butt and mid section. No tips
at all. Now its starting to take shape I fabricated to new tips and matched the cane color pretty well. Dave Leclair made me a set of ferrules (great job) and
now starting the wrapping. The previous wraps were red with black tips so I guess it is a Champion.

My Question is: is there a good, easy, cheap...

In regards to markings on Goodwin & W&M Grangers I've owned 3 or 4 that were all original that lacked markings. When I purchased my mint 8040
Registered it had all the appropriate markings on the butt and the silver medallion on the rod tube but the chromium 1938 reel had no markings. I called Dick
Spurr about it in 2000 and he responded he had seen that too and they(W&M) made mistakes. I currently have an excellent all original 7030 Deluxe which

Michael,

We talked about my Granger Champion a couple of SRGs ago. The slide band reel seat on mine just has the Goodwin Granger Company markings, but no model
information. I still have the tattered original bag that has 1/3 of the label left stating it was a GC9050. The ink stamp was apparently lost long ago and like
Michael, I chose to leave it off.

Thanks Guys

I guess I should have stated that it is a Goodwin Granger Rod. I dont know what Era but maybe a Denver Special. Nothing on the reel seat stating the grade. I
think to be right I should put it back as original as possible. So, no markings, red wraps tipped black. Easy fix, thanks for your input.

Its Appreciated

Hello Jack,

The Granger Champion did have a gum rubber stamping that stated "Granger Champion". The reel seat did NOT have the model name, only the company
stamping. Other than using a rubber stamp, I don't know of an authentic looking way to re-mark the rod. Years ago I considered having a stamp made for
each of the Granger models. After reflection, I realized that to keep it legal, I would probably need W&M's permission to duplicate the markings, and
IF they...

It's possible that your rod never had any markings at all .
