Yes, it is the reel pictured in the book but you can't get a feel of how big this reel is unless you hold it. Unbelievable massive work of reel art! When you get a chance click over to the Book Talk section. Stefan Duma is going to write a bit about the history of the Hardy White Whickam.
Should be very interesting!!!

The Hardy silent check U.S.A Reel........Just plain rare and a few have been sold as plain Uniquas with the owner not knowing of it's rare qualities. The difference can mean $$$$!!! Most of the reels up until I located this reel did not have the USA printed in the curved line lettering but you can always tell by it's unmistakable silent check drag system. No problem Flyman615 couldn't pass up the chance to share some of the rarest reel I've had the chance to take part in. They represent the best of the best in Hardy history! Thanks!

P.S. For those of you that like the St George Salmon reels so much there's good news! Hardy has made a reproduction of the same 4in Hardy St George Salmon reels made in England. Not sure of the release date but I saw a prototype at a recent show! You'll be very pleased!!!

Rick, What a breathtaking collection! I absolutely love your photo arrangements. Is that older Perfect - the one with the pierced columns - the model described as "the missing link"?

Also, I love your photo of the twin handled St. George; not only for the reel but also the fine bottle of Dalwhinney featured...and...I believe I see an issue of Art of Angling Journal peeking out! It's the issue featuring Bogdan's reels and...my article "On Bull Trout and...

First, Rick, thanks for sharing these.

Second, although I would only take 1 and 2 to keep, I should think the WW would retreive sufficient funds to obtain all the others, or nearly so.

Third, I find it fascinating that on the first model there was a spring positioned apparently to keep the pawl both engaged and floating, similar to the 1912 check. I wonder why it was temporarily discontinued and then later replaced.

Hey Rick -

Did either of the St George Salmons have the two piece gear/wheel that made them silent wind?

I've got an old Robert Turnbull retailed reel with that feature, and some of the St George salmon reels are the only other reels I know of that used this design.

Thanks Chris for bringing the wonderful White Wickham to attention, the rarest reel of the bunch!!! To hold one, as I'm sure you know is most amazing as it has the weight on a large bowling ball and YES 1 of 3 ever produced by Hardy.

Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!! Rick Dude, those are about as rare reels as you will find anywhere!!!!!!!! Even though I'm more a rod fan I can sure appreciate the incredible beauty and one of a kind nature of those fine reels. Just holding those reels must have sent shivers down your spine. I would think that's what it would be like if one were to play catch with Babe Ruth's original baseball glove or Fly fish an original Dickerson 8014 Guide
