Specials had "special" hardware - heavy reverse twist snakes, witness marked Thomas ferrules and tanged tiptops made in house. Were these used in the restoration and new tips? If they were, and the tips are a really nice match, I'd say 5-600 or so. If it's one of the desirable tapers - there were many iterations.
