it's participants, very helpful. I have never posted before but a have a question that I would appreciate all of
you knowledgeable folks out there to respond to. There are so many notable builders out there that have either passed
on or stopped building rods-in a way ending the source for some fine classic cane rods. Are there any of these talented
craftsmen who have past their talent on to family or other capable hands? I've...

In Oregon Bamboo, I was able to directly trace craft from a "Mr. Gordon" who learned and made rods in England, retired to the Santiam Valley east of
Salem, Oregon circa 1900; who taught Harry Hobson, and so on; to highly skilled builders working, and teaching the deserving, today.

Just now, I'm finishing the draft of a book about Gary Howells. Again, I found nothing surprising; but, in the quiet waters of Winston, tradition runs

Every maker today most likely started by copying someone elses taper.

I have yet to come a cross a moderen era maker (someone currently building) that is not more than willing to shere their knowledge. Whether it be through this
forum, the Rodmaker listserv, dozens of websites and the all time favorite - Rodmakers Gatrherings.

I want to thank everyone who responded to my post. I knew this forum would be great! I was taken by Soft Hackle's reply. As odd as it may sound, I am
really interested in any craft passed from father to son. I love the idea of family tradition. I only say this because my own living is derived from what my
father pasesd on to me. If anyone has more infomation or comments regarding Charlie and Steve Jenkins, I would truly appreciate hearing them.

Thanks again,
