The general public conception is that these old Orvis rods are valuable, but the longer ones aren't. If it was a 9-10 condition, that might bump values up a couple hundred...

That back in the day , a LOT of 9 footers were made. And because they are rather heavy, they aren't as popular today as they were 50 years ago ( maybe we've all become wimps). Also, they are common and therfore not very collectable. Oh, and one more thing is that it's a prodution rod. All that said, in the right place they can fish quite well.

And will make an alright fishing rod for big rivers or lakes. I'd say it's worth about $125 in todays market ( but welcome contradicting thoughts).

I have a Beaverkill fly rod that belonged to my grandfather who recently passed away. I am trying to get an idea of what it is worth. It was bought in the 1930's. When assembled it is about 9' 2" long, it consists of 3 pieces that are the same length. It comes with 2 tips and they are in a silver tube. It does come in a marked bag and on the rod itself it is marked "beaverkill" and also "Utica, N.Y". I would say it is in very good condition and would give...
