Leonard?

I have an old rod which is marked "Bowen" with intermediates, and nickel Silver hardware. The ferrules are stamped with 2 patent dates which are
hard to see, even magnified, but the first I believe is September 3 1878, and under that is October, something, 1875? As I say, very tough to see, I doubt I
could get it in a photo. Purchased about 20 years ago in an antique store in northern michigan, delicate rod, 8' 3 1/4 oz, casts a 3 weight nicely. Does
anyone know the ferrule...

Leonard rod complany often made rods for their employees {nice bonus!}. Sometimes a fully legit rod and sometimes, if money was tight, they could also piece
together something to fish with. If the name is on the rod is in script, it could have been a rod made for an employee with the name of a child or
relative/friend marked such as a gift.

hexhatch, I look forward to the pics. The ferrules sound legit but of course they could have been added to anything. An 8' 3wt is a fairly common Leonard
taper before the fire. With a few exceptions, they didn't pump out too many long, light tapers after the fire. What kind of reel seat does it have? Does
it have any stampings?
