Thanks Mark. No reasoning behind Phillips vs. Slots.....wanted all slotted fasteners to the look the same as well, but I live in a small town with only one option for fasteners (hardware store). They ran out of the slotted fasteners. image

It's really cool to see the finished product of your reels on the rods ready to go, and it is VERY cool that your daughter has a reel made by Dad....even if you are teaching her to reel with the wrong hand by making her a LHW reel image

I'm completing the blue one and three more black ones. Once I get one of them completed I'll post pics on the innards. The design combines the looks and attributes of both Hardy and Leonard style reels, with an open palming plate/side. The reel is 3.25" from pillar to pillar with a 0.75" inside spool width and weighs in at 6.3 ounces. The reel's side rims are 6061-T6 aluminum anodized both black and blue (for Daughter). Pillars are nickle silver, trim and foot polished aluminum, with Delrin used for the side plate.
