			<description><![CDATA[ I saw his Princess and Orvis in the Schwiebert display at the American Museum of Fly Fishing in Manchester Vermont. I don&#39;t think it&#39;s on display
anymore.

Funny thing though, the Young and Orvis were coated with a heavy varnish overcoat. I can&#39;t believe Ernie would have done that, especially on the Orvis.

			<description><![CDATA[ I have seen probably more photos of him on Fishing Creek and several places in the Delaware system over a fair span of years from when that sweater looked like
a sweater until you could not tell what it was and the rod he seemed to have in hand most often was his venerable Leonard 50, which he could sling out there a
good 80&#39; with regularity. A few guys I know that had the pleasure of fishing with him said he usually fished it although the man had a bit of tackle. ]]></description>

I must have been there that day also and watched him land that big brownie. Textbook all the way.

I was also lucky enough to acquire his Garrison salmon rod from the auction. It needed no work and even had the ferrule plugs. I was ready to clean the
ferrules and thought, those are his fingerprints on them and left them alone. That rod fished all over the world.

			<description><![CDATA[ Mr. Schwiebert wrote about fishing a Granger 8040 Special in his younger years (before WWII) with his father in Austria.

He allowed as how it was his &quot;first really good rod&quot;.

Schwiebert also wrote that the Granger was, in fact, later stolen, but that he still &quot;fish(ed) it happily in (his) mind&quot;.

foot, 4-weight &#39;Paradigm&#39;, two piece  rod. During an extended lunch break we discussed his choice of tackle. He mentioned that the T &amp; T Paradigm (

			<description><![CDATA[ Mr. Schweibert was the feature at a book signing in Dick Pobst&#39;s Orvis Shop in Ada, MI. back in the early 80&#39;s... I got to talk to him there and rods
came up in the conversation. He had an 8&#39; Orvis Battenkill and a PHY Perfectionist that he brought from home for fishing locally that evening. He stated
that those two were the rods he traveled with the most.

presented so many rod it&#39;s not surprising that he wasn&#39;t particularly &quot;caring&quot; for his treasures.

showtime came here comes Ernie, projector in hand asking if we minded if he set up on the end of the table.  One of the slides had a closeup of his reel, a TR4
Walker, which had a Golden hue on the rim and handle.  Since I had one like it at the time, I commented that it looked like gold in the sunlight....his

			<description><![CDATA[ In reading all his books and viewing rods from his estate at auction I would say in addition to the T&amp;T already mentioned, his favorite rods were Orvis
Battenkills and Paul Young models. In many photos from thoughout the 70&#39;s &amp; 80&#39;s he is shown with an Orvis or T&amp;T.  In the auction there were a
bunch of &quot;reconstructed&quot; Young rods, possibly made by Schwiebert from blanks or refinished and rebuilt in &quot;creative&quot; ways. Schwiebert also

			<description><![CDATA[ In his book <span style="font-style: italic;">Trout</span>, Schwiebert wrote about a unique 7&#39;6&quot; PHY Princess that Paul H. Young built for himself in
1958, with two different tips, one tapered to 4/64 and the other to a 4-1/2/64 tip top. Schwiebert acquired the Princess rod after Young&#39;s death.
