Built&quot; rod?  Based on the ghost of the original writing I am fairly sure I know what it should be.  Thanks in advance for any help.



Trying to trace the ghosting of the old script and match the color did not work out too well.  I finally just re-wrote the inscription in my own hand.  When I

&quot;Helen&quot; signed most of them but he sometimes also did when they were made. many rodmakers probably had the signing done by whoever had good

			<description><![CDATA[ imho replicating part or most of an existing signature in a restoration is not the same as faking a signature on a rod that never had it. That said, I&#39;d
want to know that it had be done, just as I&#39;d want to know that wraps and or guides were replaced or the rod was revarnished, or a section was scarfed or

			<description><![CDATA[ I found a Heddon #17 Black Beauty with an awful restoration, part of the Black in Black Beauty was wiped off, as well as a hundred other issues.   I plan on
using the rod and I will try to reproduce the script as close to original as possible.  I&#39;d love to see a picture of a well preserved #17 to see how close
I can come to the script.

			<description><![CDATA[ I don&#39;t think it would be possible to capture the ghosting and the reel seat,except for about 2&quot; of the plastic barrels was not present.The green and
orange Bristol Built label is present and in excellent condition. Ferrules are non-serrated, rolled welt nickle silver. I believe what was written on the shaft
was  &quot;Edwards Built&quot; on one line and &quot;F5-8 Dry Fly&quot; on the next line.

			<description><![CDATA[ Would restoration of a signature include turning a non-signed trade rod into a maker&#39;s labeled rod? I own a Heddon made 7&#39;6&quot; Marshall Field 2
Striper that I could relabel as a Heddon and increase it&#39;s value, but I won&#39;t. I think that is wrong and believe so is &quot;restoring&quot; a missing
signature because there&#39;s no way to prove that it was ever there. You can add the missing information in non-origianl script so that there&#39;s no

			<description><![CDATA[ I think the makers &quot;signature&quot; on a rod is just a &quot;makers mark&quot; and amounts to a trade name such as Orvis or Payne.  It Identifies the rod
and if it needs to be restored along with the rest of the rod then it should be and I would think that any living or deceased maker would want the rod he built
to be properly identified as his, I know I would if I made rods and the things that I do make I would not take offense if that were done as long as it was done

			<description><![CDATA[ It&#39;s a &quot;Bristol Built&quot; F5. A pretty low end rod built by workers in a factory.  I am no expert on Edwards rods but based on what I do know  I am
quite sure that no one with the last name Edwards actually built the rod or wrote the inscription so I am not sure what they all being dead has to do with it.
Does this mean that a rod built by a maker who is now dead can never be &quot;restored&quot;?  Some of the inscription is still present and all I want to do is
