        <![CDATA[ I was just thinking about places to retire and I could use your oppinions.


1.  easy access for fishing.  Streams or rivers an older gentleman can wade but still offers good quality.

2.  Good hospitals reasonably close by.

3.  Nice homes around 500K 

4.  Dog/ animal friendly


Just curious what area you would pick ....

At first I thought I&#39;d pick Cape cod,  Nice variety,  great trout &amp; bass fishing (a nice secret for some very respectable trout) along with Striped
bass , bluefish... ]]>

			<description><![CDATA[ Being very far from retirement age, I will, however, state that I think the choice of Western NC would not be a bad thought.  Lots of good fishing on wild
trout streams within a 30 min-1 hour drive, smallmouth fishing right outside of town, a wide-ranging array of political and social thoughts, and good tailwater
fishing up in Eastern Tennessee (~1.5 to 2 hours drive).   One of the larger employers in town seems to be the hospitals, especially with the influx of
retirees in the last 10-15... ]]></description>

and fish the wild trout section. Well, as he was gearing up, a few local gang bangers popped out of the brush with their &quot;Uzi&quot; (his term) and he got
back into his rental car and drove off. I guess when I told him to not go downstream and get into the pot farms that he got nervous. Heck, these guys were just

the days when even a lowly river like the Scantic could deliver in one stretch brookies, browns, and rainbows--and sometimes a real surprise like the day my
Uncle Sue (I really did have an Uncle Sue) caught a 4 1/2 pound brown in the Scantic.

You are correct about Lenox and Stockbridge being expensive and even W. Stockbridge and Gt. Barrington now also ( Tanglewood is the BSO property in Lenox, not
a town by itself). If you get away from that area by 1/2 hour into the Hilltowns you are actually closer to the Deerfield ( farther from the Housy but close to
the East Br, headwaters in Dalton) and in a prettier environment with many smaller trout streams, fewer people and very affordable housing. I am in Cummington
