        <![CDATA[ I&#39;ve just joined this wonderful website, but as you can see I&#39;ve already screwed up by misspelling Crossed.  Can someone help me unscrew it?


I live in northern Colorado, by the Cache La Poudre River and would like to become a really good flycaster to help me become a better flyfisherman.  Over the
years I&#39;ve done a bit of flyfishing, but now that I am retired I want to become really good at it.  After all, I have over forty miles of beautiful river

			<description><![CDATA[ I come from a saltwater background where distance puts you over more fish. I found the BACK CAST was the most important part of the cast. The drill was to pull
off 30 ft of line and put a little mark on the line. Stand normal and point the rod tip toward the grass (a couple inches off) ...then walk backwards till the
line (in front of you) looked nice and straight and tight to the rod. Then (with the line tight and the tip close to the ground) lift up the line with a big
cast and fling it... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ My dad was not a fly fisherman. I was about ten years old, for Christmas he gave me a Wright McGill &quot;Sweetheart: for HDG line 8 1/2ft, the line he
included was Ashaway B level. With this rod and set up. (By the way the reel I bought Pflueger Medalist 1495 reel). I fished dries including midges with
fifteen ft leader fishing the leader, bass bugging and striper fishing. My casting instructor was books by Jason Lucas, Bergman, Joe Brooks, Alden Knight, Lee
Wulff.

			<description><![CDATA[ 30 years ago I taught myself from books.  Once we joined the FFF I got some pointers from some very kind gentlemen.  IMHO you don&#39;t need professional
instruction to learn to fly fish and have fun.....but.....  I truly think a little good instruction would make the intitial frustrations much smaller.  I think
it would make the road to really maximizing your ability to catch fish much much shorter.  Roll casting, mending, and all the little things that come over time

			<description><![CDATA[ for the first few years of fly fishing i was a terrible caster.i had lots of instruction and watched the joan wulff video over and over.i love joan wulff,so
that was easy.

i also got the doug swisher video and that helped.but i was still a non-caster.

part of the problem was that most places i fished ,a roll cast was called for more than an overhand cast.but when you needed an overhand cast,you really need
it!

buy.  My first instruction was at Kaufman&#39;s in Oregon.  Dec Hogan and John Hazel were the instructor&#39;s there at the time.  My skill improved about
100%.  I then signed up for Joan Wulff&#39;s casting school a few years later.  Again, my skill improved dramatically.  After that Joan told me to practice

			<description><![CDATA[ Take a lesson from a good competent caster and teacher, then practice and fish as much as you can.  I lawn cast a lot and what that does for me is just from
the repetition of doing things on the lawn, without the fish and water in the equation things become natural and sink in to the point when I&#39;m on the water
it just happens the way I practiced.

			<description><![CDATA[ Again, I&#39;ll be the contrarian. Do you know anyone who has improved their casting and found it made them a &quot;worse&quot; fisherman? Yes, you can be a
good caster and not be a good fisherman. And you can be a good fisherman without being a good caster. But becoming a better caster will always make you a
better fisherman. Just one more tool in the quiver to go along with reading water, mending line, entomology, etc.
