        <![CDATA[ I&#39;d appreciate comments on the unusual check on this Dingley. It&#39;s a 4&quot; JA Walker Salmon reel. Most of the Dingley checks are analogs to Hardy
checks. But not this one (I think). Brian &amp; I are working on a tech description for this reel. All &quot;check gurus&quot;--please check in with opinions!

circle but curves away in a sinuous &#39;question mark&#39; and is pinned to the base.  That&#39;s what I&#39;m talkin&#39; about!  Am I right, Patrick?

caged spool made for Playfair. The brass bits are similar but only has one spring. This reel if you use full range of adjustment will go from favouring right
wind to favoring left wind.If memory is right I think some of the early silex,s used a 2 spring setup somewhat like the reel your showing Pat.From years when

i had that same reel about 5 years ago , for sure a dingley , it is really not any diff then the small 3 inch brass rod caged dingley with the adjustable drag
, same kind of check , just bigger ,

if you need a picture i can put one up for you , that check is one he put in that model of reel if it had a adjustable drag with strap over the tensioner ,
what is the best part about that check is ,, you only have to turn the adjustment about a half turn and you really get the drag now... ]]></description>
