The inscription says "Cleveland." I believe the reelseat was Standard's response to the popularity of the Kosmic rods (which used no Chubb-style hardware). By the way, Pete, did you ever find the hardware you were looking for? I've got a NiS buttcap @ .764" and a Nis sliding ring @ .841" - let me know if you could use them.

I second that! That ivoried reel seat looks pretty familar to the Kosmics I have read about. What it the inscriptions on the butt of the reel seat?

here's the windings for the Standard Rod Co. /Cleveland model.
Old Canerods. The white ivorid is .800 round and the wood core is .640 Hope that helps, and thanks for the offer. I am interested

I've got an all NS reelseat, removed from an junked butt section, that has the same buttcap. (not stamped with make or model) The ring is a twin knurled wide band, but might do if it and the cap are the correct size. What's the OD of the widest part of the slide and ditto for where the cap has to fit. My reelseat ring is nearly round but slightly off-round (from reel foot) and averages about ~ 0.840" ID. Cap is ~ 0.763" ID more or less and has brass showing slightly and...

I'd love to see the signature windings on both of these rods, and the winding check on HQ's rod. I haven't seen any marked Montys with this reel seat (yet) but have seen several rods sporting it that could pass for a Monty. I'd love to make a positive connection.

I haven't been able to nail down a Cleveland rod yet to a Monty production model. Maybe with a few more pics, I might have a chance.

How about that!!!! only two returns and you got it nailed. Thanks Dave, you were right on. I would like to think that this is a Standard made rod, as Montague didn't take over until the Standard Rod Co. was closed. Montague could have used the left over hardware to complete orders and it will be any ones guess as to the correct time line. Now all I need to do is find the slide ring and the butt cap.

My bet is that it's a Monty, made up of their parts, plus a Cleveland reelseat they picked up when they took over the Standard Rod Co.

Those sure look like high grade Montague ferrules to me. Not sure about the reel seat though, but I'll bet Rex can identify it.

Here's an interesting one. Length 10', sculptured rails on ivoroid reel seat. orange wrap tipped in black, welted ferrules with witness mark, knurled spacer between seat and cork, 1" and 1/2" cork rings, knurled winding check and missing butt cap and sliding band. Thanks for looking. Dustnstuff
