I am in the process of purchasing a Bunyan Bug, it's obviously an old tie but is not carded and was wondering if photos might establish its identity,

Yes photos would definately help to identify if it's an original Bunyan Bug or not. I would like to see some pics of this BB either way.

Banjo, I am no authority on Bunyan Bugs but have been very interested in them for about the past year. I would say that is more than likely an original made by
the Means family. The decal/design looks right, salt and pepper horse mane wings is correct, thread wrapped over body and just overall look all seem right. I
would guess that is a mayfly imitation due to the shape of the wing cut but I do not see tails but those could have broken off over time. I do not think it is
a caddis or stonefly imitation because it does not have the spent wing, V-notch cut. I would say it is an original. Cool bug. Thanks for the pics.

Thanks to all who replied here, PM'd me and emailed me on this Bunyan Bug, I plan on making a nice display of it with a copy of Norm Means first Montana
