Farlow 'Regal' 3 1/2" wide drum...

Posts: 44 09/06/2008 12:01	Tags : None I've just come across this little lovely...am fondling it on my desk at this very moment...A Farlow Regal, 3 1/2", wide drum (1 1/2"). This one seems to have more bits to the drag system than the one exposed by doing a search on this forum (can't remember whose that was). 'A7784' stamped on one side of the reel foot, 'I 47 1' stamped on the other side. '1' stamped on the spool, winding plate and innards. Any ideas as to date and value? (apologies for state of pictures...I'm reduced to mobile phone camera while mine gets mended....fell in the River Isla while failing to catch salmon..)

Posts: 131 09/06/2008 16:51	That's very nice, and I've never seen a wide drum one before. My understanding is that they were made from the very late '20s until just before the war. I have the 3" version, and it's probably my favorite reel. As to value, its worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but I'd happily give 120 quid for it if I were not so broke at the moment. I have a copy of the page but photobucket is down for maintenance...I'll post it asap.
