do any of you gentenmen own the hardy 1896 perfect replica ? can you tell me what year they came out with it ?

In 1998 Hardy (the 125th anniversary) reproduced two reels, limited to 1000 each, the Bougle and the 1890's Perfect. Perhaps this is the Perfect you are
asking about.

There were actually three Perfect re-issues, the 1903 Bougle, 1896 Houghton Perfect and a set of the Brass faced Perfects of the same period. I have a couple
of these - I'll post an image at lunch today.

The Houghtons seem to command more than the Brass Faced Perfects for some reason. This past July a set of 3 Brass Faced Perfects with box/papers sold for ~$2,500 at Mullocks. The most recent estimates I've seen for the Houghton reel is in the $1,200 - $1,800 range.

Bill, thank you. I have seen the Bougle replicas selling in online auctions for $700-800 but had no info about the Perfects.

I just found a set but they are RHW the price for the set $1400 , the Hought model is what i was looking for its amazaing how many design changes when they where design this reel . |

I was wondering about all three replica reels being limited to 1000 each. It feels like quite a high number and the Bouglé seems to pop up quite regularly /
significantly more than the other two. Are they featured in the regular 1998 Hardy's catalogue, or in a separate anniversary catalogue? I can't find
much information about either of the replica reels on the web, could someone provide a link? Thanks a lot!

The Houghton, the Bougle and three Hardy bamboo rods limited to 25 each were in the 1998 Herrington catalog in the USA. Herrington is a specialty/boutique
retailer. Not a lot of information in the listing --

Thanks Joe and Dennis, very useful information! In the aftermath of the Dutch vintage tackle fair in Eindhoven last weekend I've gotten the chance to buy a
Houghton, so that's why I'm interested. If so, I'll go hunting for those catalogues. Just to confirm: the UK listing is in the regular Hardy
catalogue?

Recieved the 3" Brass Perfect today, a really fabulous reel. Made in 1999, number 245 of 1000. Interesting fact: the word "Houghton" actually
doesn't appear anywhere on the box, in the booklet or on the reel itself.
