Had the pleasure of purchasing Marden's copy of "The Bamboos" by FA McClure from Judith Bowman. The book contained personal items of Luis: Chinese currency, money orders on Bank of China, a signed postcard to himself (in McLean, VA.) "from the capital of the Tonkin country," even leaves of bamboo! In 1999, Luis refused to autograph my copy of "The Angler's Bamboo" for fear of "defacing" it. He had Parkinson's disease and his writing had deteriorated. He was an amazing fellow.
