Special thanks to Dennis (Firehole) for his kind advice and superb accommodation.
I was even able to pick up in person my two Sweetgrass rods (7½' #4/5 penta 3/2 [in several pics below] and 8½' #6/7 hex 3/2).
Firehole
Hoppers & beetles worked well here.
Gibbon
Surprise grayling on a hopper.
Lamar
Lots of fish and hoppers here but plenty of fishermen, too. I suppose most people who would otherwise fish the now empty Yellowstone went to Lamar & tribs now.
Henry's Fork
Heavy trico hatch below Island Park dam; left side of the picture is fuzzy with tricos.
Madison
Slough Creek
Nice hybrid, most fish again on beetles and hoppers.
DePuy's Spring Creek
Fishing was excellent when we finally got some overcast skies.
It started with midges.
Then we got autumn baetis duns.
Finally there was a heavy spinner fall that lasted longer than my nerves...
Browns were a bit shy but hoppers tempted some nice fish next to the banks.
...and all else is just litterature
Just a reminder: you have to slow down when fishing cane (or driving to pick up some long awaited rods).
