The other weekend, my son had a report to write on cavemen, so we decided to take the kids to the Museum of Natural Science here in Brussels. We found a very interesting display including a baby woolly mammoth that was frozen in Siberia and unearthed (uniced?) in all its splendor 30,000 years later.
My thoughts started to wonder and as it was late in the day, I began to case out the room looking for guards, cameras and other visitors. The room was empty with the kids and wife over at the naked humanoid area when I started to bend over the guard rail where just there - within reach, was the secret ingredient of my Woolly Mammoth Bugger. As my arm started to extend towards the creature, my conscience finally kicked in and saved the day. I can't begin to believe I actually thought of ripping off a tuft of fur from that thing, I never stole anything in my life let alone intentionally defaced or damaged something that wasn't mine. Man, this fly tying thing is taking over my better judgement!
I guess this is how exotic animals become threatened. I was tempted with all sorts of things like polar bear fur, condor feathers,... but managed to resist thus far.
Guess I'll never tie that Woolly Mammoth Bugger, but knowing me - I'd only hang it high in a tree after my first back cast!
