Lodging near Yellowstone |

|
Thinking about flying to Yellowstone this summer for 1 to 2 weeks of fishing. Wondering if anyone has recommendations on where to stay. Since the family is
not going, I will be alone and require only meager lodging. I'm going to fish. Since I'm flying I would think that camping is out due to difficulty
in taking all the equipment.
Anyone have suggestions? Thanks, Eric

I can highly recommend Jim Slattery's place " Campfire Lodge and Resort" steps from the Madison between Hebgan dam and Quake Lake. He has one
room cabins some with a kitchenette. Very reasonable rates, he also cooks up a killer breakfast, huge, Montana style. Email him and ask him about his secret GH
lure.

Eric,
It depends what part of the Park and/or boundry areas you intend to fish. More specific information would be helpful. Jim |

Ditto the Campfire Lodge -- the big plpus being you can just about fall out of bed and be fishing some of the best water on the river.

I agree with everyone about planning the areas you want to fish, then looking at the lodging from that perspective. My favorite area of the Park to fish is
the Northeast quadrant. There are nice places to stay in Silver Gate, Montana that are really convenient for this area of the Park. Also, if you plan to fish
the Paradise Valley or the North part of the Park, you might consider a night or two at Chico Hot Springs. If you stay in the old part of the hotel
(non-renovated, shared bathroom) you can get a room for 50-75$ and you can soak in the pool for free. The restaurant there is probably the best in Montana,
but the meal can cost more than your room. Very nice if you want to splurge on a meal, though. Have fun, and I hope you get 2 weeks out there!

OK. Looks like I need to do some homework on Yellowstone. I think the Campfire Lodge might be a good home base though. So many streams.....

I own a full time 2 bd 1 bath condo near Hebgen Lake(2 miles away) with West Yellowstone/YNP 12 miles away, Madsion River 12 miles and Gallatin River 35 miles
away. If interested contact me with dates I may be able to give you a better rate than Campfire or motel rooms and in West Yellowstone plus you'll find my
condo to be more centrally located than Campfire which is 24 miles from West Y & 47 miles to the Gallatin. Email cal1280@fairpoint.net

I'm fairly low maintenance when I'm around YNP.. I just require CLEAN. In West Yellowstone the 'One Horse' is a great place and the owner lady
is very nice. In Silvergate I like the Gizzly and Brooke the lady that runs it during the summer is nice.
