Ted Godfrey 'Classic' 2 7/8" | #230 | ||

Pleased to land this Ted Godfrey reel during the summer, the week before the prices jumped up. Have yet to use it, love the way all of the N/Silver screw heads
line up, and the N/S rims. Check out Ted's web site, to see his fine reels www.tedgodfreys.com If I would fish for Atlantics, I would save my pennies for
one of his reels for those. I hear that he makes each and every part of all of his his reels and spends in excess of 40 hours making each trout reel. The check
on the rear is very smooth and strong.

The year 2008 has been a crazy year for me when it comes to reel collecting......I've ended up with many more neat reels than I should hope for in a life
time let alone one year........it's been a fun time, but I am certain going forward it's all down hill.......I'm not complaining though....to buy
this reel I sold off a couple of rare 1930's deco tricycles from a prior hobby thank goodness for past hobbies.....
This thing of beauty arrived yesterday.....I know spitfire type reels are not everyone's taste, but this Hermann Salmon al Natural I find VERY appealing (it was a nightmare to photograph though). Thanks Paul for making such a wonderful reel

Wow, what a great thread! I've never heard of alot of these reels, much less seen any.
How about a modern classic? Not as exciting maybe, but I love the Lightweights. I just received a Golden Flyweight, number 020, to complete my triad. The silver Featherweight on the far left was my first, in the early '80s, and went for $141 new, back then an enormous amount for me. I fish them all, that's what they're for, right?

Great photo of your Lightweights Dave!
I remember my Featherweight. Bought it form Hook and Hackle sometime in the late seventies for $65.00. Ha, the good ole days! Of course it's not as pretty today, but it's still going strong. Bob

I recently "stole" a Hardy Angel Mk I 11/12 with spare spool. Wonderful BIG reel, strictly for the cabinet as an objet d'art. I now own the
smallest (2/3 Featherweight), the biggest and the one exactly in between (6/7), all made in England. It's the one reel that made me a Hardy lover. Not only
a great fishing reel, but also the last (up to now) classic Hardy reel, (co-)designed by Ari 't Hart. I personally don't like the looks of the Mk II,
and I'm pretty convinced that the Mk I will be a future collectable.

I got this in the summer and it has a chip and filed foot but I just liked the dark finish and its contrast to the handle, a bit of BC tooling and it works
like new. It was made in 1919, based on the patent.
