Got to slip away with Bill Oyster on Monday and fish the Amicalola River in north Georgia. The weather was perfect; misting rain, heavy fog and a nice
stain to the water. Fished my 7.5 foot Phillipson Peerless with my Peerless 1.5 reel. This stream is designated delayed harvest this time of year and gets
stocked heavily so we tore em up! Gotta love them year round Appalachian trout streams!

Salmon River, Altmar, NY... vom Hofe/Edwards rod (10-wt) w/ a Hardy Husky reel. Temps about 25 F, Steelhead hidden throughout the day (but then the water was
37 F)!

teter wrote: Y'know, I last fished it October 07. It was my first outing with a newly wrapped bamboo (my first, a 7' 4wt) and I caught a slew of native brookies and a few wild browns, none more than 12". last hookup was on an iso parachute. Nice fish, too, much larger than a foot-long. Couldn't bring it in. Too bad I didn't take any pictures, I was using a modern classic reel... Golden Featherweight. Your rainbow has amazing spotting! Dave, the rainbow is cool, but I'll bet those brookies were a lot prettier.
Clark, that fog picture is haunting.

I wasn't the only one fishing on Christmas Eve
but I think I was making him jealous
and again - there was a good BWO hatch in the fast water and I took advantage of it
saw my buddy Dale tearing them up on midges in the slower pool
why argue with success
hey, cut that out
home, time to clean up and go sing...

Actually, his kype was caught in the net, but it held him still for a photo.
How about that bald eagle? That's the first one I've seen in our tailwater, but I've seen a couple of others farther up the river in the fall, and many winter in the Colorado (TX) above Lake Buchanan.

Great series of photos, Ron. Lovely reel & wonderful matching the agate to the trout's colors. What a joy.

Hi Pat,
tiny red midges were the fly of the day - I just can't put down the Thomas Special - rod and reel (well, equivalent reel)
